Beef time

I'm not sure what this is all about, something to do with Ryan Sheckler. It's some entertaining back and forth beefing between Clyde Singleton and Jamie Thomas, read the original post here and the backlash here. It's good to hear that these two old friends can get heated somewhat without it getting too out of control. Clyde gets a lot of hating directed at him (not by JT) but that's what you get for speaking your mind.

Staple

Jeff Staple is one of my heroes. I actually haven't had many heroes in the past decade besides Madlib so I was stoked when he linked to my last post on his blog. This sounds kind of childish but the guy is a legend, everything I want to be as far as branding and design go. Also the guy is a major entrepreneur who travels to Japan 10 times a year to design shoes amongst other things. He has a store in New York called Reed Space which sells a varity of things that the owners love and also their clothing label. Maybe one day I can convince Mr Staple to design a few skateboard decks for us. This world is getting smaller and smaller by the minute, some web 2.0 shit right there. I tried to send a fan-out email to Mr Staple but his mailbox is full, probably a good sign as I was on some drivel about being so inspired etc. Kind of embarrassing to admit but I really look up to the guy. Another Asiatic brother trying to keep his head up in this world of uncertainty.

Vision not needed to enjoy

Tommy Carroll is an inspiration. If you're having a bad day just watch this and feel grateful or pick an emotion for yourself.

let loose

These guys know how to let go and have some fun. Just remember in this day and age you'll never know who's watching you. Never mind being in the big brother house, you're in the big brother world now. Get used to it. This is a positive example of the voyeuristic society we now live in that assumes that everyone will lie when given the opportunity. But the camera, our new god of conscience never does.

Real-ality shows

The concept for this ad looks very much like it was based on a photo taken of a Sydney skater in the early 00's that was recent republished. I have a sneaking suspicion that some clueless ad executive saw the photo I'm talking about and came up with the brilliant idea for this ad. I'll scan the photo tonight so you can see the similarities. One thing you can 't fake though is genuine skate-ability, I know some with think I'm being a pretentious, precious skateboarder for this comment but I am of the opinion that the guy in this ad is not a skateboarder. Please let me know your thoughts as i love to know where I fall in the general public's perception of how great this ad is. Thirsty? Do something original.

tension the mention

I felt like writing something today but I self analyse my flow too much compared to days of old when I wouldn’t give a fuci what was conveyed to the (small) masses. What to do now when I just worry. I got in the lift and it kept going down to the lower basement each time we went up to ground it would keep going back to lb, the woman in the lift with me was getting frustrated and I thought, this is one of those days. I’m more relaxed these day and the days are like one tight length of string that neither goes up or dawn, it’s just a content calmness that I have never had before. I was used to the drama and the ups and downs and the craziness of it all, the anticipation verses the sorrow. The good with the bad and now the good gets better, it’s a better way to live but it can mean a kind of regularity type of feeling. Time is a funny thing that is like elastic and spreads itself thinly and thickly depending on your state of mind and also which gear you are in. The gear I’m in is one of spendthrift, and focus, life improves when you improve it yourself not waiting for some free token of excellence, we’re all human. I thought I was some sort of superhero sometimes above all else and the chosen one to be sometimes more angrier than you.

not another KW post

A lot of brand extensions are happening these days. Kayne West has launched Kayne Travel. (wtf?)
It seems that once you have a successful brand these days you can go down many roads to squeeze some more millage out of it. Hhmmm. What's next?

Time well invested

MUTO a wall-painted animation by BLU from blu on Vimeo.

I'm really grateful for the people who made this animation. It would have taken some time. Some time I probably used up not being creative.

The coverage that pro skateboarders get in magazines is really being broke down into a science. See Arto Saari's results as the no. 1 ranked for March. Not long after this info was published it was announced that he was leaving Flip Skateboards to join the recently Burton acquired Alien Workshop. Coverage talks. This is some serious skatenerd stuff.
